When replacing clutch steel plates, inspect the clutch basket, inner hub and pressure plate for signs of wear or grooving. Check old plates for blue discolouration, scoring or warping caused by excessive heat. For optimum clutch performance and longevity, replace friction plates and clutch springs at the same time as the steel plates.
