Wemoto stocks the UK’s most comprehensive range of motorcycle batteries, battery chargers and battery acid. We have selected the world’s best-value pattern batteries that you can confidently fit to your bike.
We offer motorcycle batteries charged and ready to go out of the box, or dry and ready to fill with battery acid (sold separately).
Gel batteries are a type of maintenance free battery which does not leak when tipped. By combining the sulphuric acid used in most types of lead acid battery with microsilica to form a gel, a gel acid battery has another protection against spilling, and makes a lot of sense on a motorcycle.
Gel-based electrolytes reduce evaporation, corrosion issues through spillage, and offer greater resistance against temperature extremes, shock and vibration - again, making them an ideal motorcycle battery.
We stock Nitro-brand gel batteries, made by one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers. They not only offer the added safety of gel batteries, but offer more starting power when compared to standard motorcycle batteries.
AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries utilize a different electrolyte and plate composition from conventional lead acid batteries, and are also equipped with valves, so they are less likely to spill and do not require topping up. Both Gel acid and AGM batteries are resistant to low temperatures. Maintenance-free motorcycle batteries have an easy-insert, compartmented acid pack included in the box.

All batteries will gradually lose charge and unless regularly charged on the bike or with a battery charger, a battery will eventually reach a state of 'deep-discharge' from which there is no recovery. This process happens much faster in cold environments (if shelved in winter) or if left on a bike fitted with an immobilizer or alarm.
To avoid deep-discharge, we highly recommend taking a battery off the bike and keeping it on an intelligent or trickle charger, which will keep the battery charged and protects it from over-charging.
See our battery care and installation guides for more information.
